About

I am a freelance journalist with experience in print, online, broadcast, and film. You are reading my personal blog slash online portfolio.

These days my writing appears mostly on Torontoist, one of the most widely read blogs in the city. I’ve also had bylines in OpenFile, The Grid, and t.o.night.

I like stories about urban issues, Toronto, the radio, equal access to information, and whatever’s in the business section. I’ve written stories about community radio stations, by-elections, and War of 1812 re-enactors. Outside of writing, I’ve done volunteer work with The Internet Archive and LibriVox, Nexos Voluntarios and Canada World Youth.

Some of my inspirations include Ira Glass, Dick Cavett, Kurt Vonnegut, Beyonce, Joan Didion, Katherine Hepburn, Jay-Z, Denise Donlon, Moses Znaimer, Mordecai Richler, Alice Munro, Nicholas D. Kristof, Sheryl WuDunn, Jane Austen, Malcolm Gladwell, David Remnick, Marie Antoinette, my parents, Sidney Lumet, Nuala O’Faolain, Amy Goodman, June Callwood, and Tina Fey.
